Ultimate Potential
Translink was appointed to prepare the detail design for the Bagodara–Vasad section on SH8. The assignment required a complete technical review of the partly executed works and development of a unified design package covering pavement, geometry, drainage and quantities.
The objective was to produce construction-ready designs that would guide the remaining works to orderly completion.

The corridor presented a fragmented construction status, with some stretches completed to subgrade, others to granular base, and a few locations already surfaced;
this variation required a pavement solution that could integrate existing work without unnecessary reconstruction.
Translink conducted detailed field checks to verify layer conditions and confirm which parts could be retained. Based on these observations, a location-specific pavement plan was prepared, aligning the various crusts into a consistent system.
Transition treatments, jointing logic and material guidance were defined so that the contractor could merge new and existing works smoothly. This approach allowed the design to remain technically sound while keeping rework to a minimum.
The resulting design provided a clear and efficient pathway to complete the corridor with uniform pavement performance.
By harmonising the varied site conditions into one coordinated plan, the project supported steady execution, reduced avoidable costs and improved long-term serviceability of the road.
