Ultimate Potential

Bharuch–Dahej Expressway, SH6, Gujarat

Project Overview

The Bharuch–Dahej Access Controlled Expressway is a brownfield corridor connecting the industrial belt of Bharuch with the Dahej SEZ — one of Gujarat’s most active freight routes. Implemented by Gujarat State Road Development Corporation (GSRDC) under the Hybrid Annuity Mode, the 38.675 km expressway aims to enhance regional logistics efficiency and industrial competitiveness.

Translink Infrastructure Consultants Pvt. Ltd. serves as the Independent Engineer (IE), responsible for ensuring technical compliance, quality assurance, and timely progress across all phases of development.

Challenges

The corridor passes through highly industrialized zones with multiple utility crossings, constrained working fronts, and complex traffic diversions. Maintaining construction pace while ensuring strict adherence to technical standards and environmental norms required vigilant supervision.

Frequent coordination among GSRDC, Concessionaire, and multiple contractors posed an additional challenge for timely decision-making.

Solutions

Translink implemented real-time review and coordination mechanisms between GSRDC and the Concessionaire to ensure rapid design approvals and field decisions. Intensive on-site quality audits and material testing protocols strengthened QA/QC.

Design vetting emphasized stability, constructability, and safety in soil-improvement zones.  A proactive traffic management strategy was enforced to sustain mobility during construction, while maintaining integrity and transparency in all certification processes.

Impact

With Translink’s rigorous oversight and collaborative approach, the project has advanced with improved construction efficiency, reduced rework, and enhanced safety. The expressway will significantly improve freight movement between Bharuch and Dahej, reduce congestion, and strengthen last-mile industrial connectivity — reinforcing Translink’s reputation as an Independent Engineer delivering quality, speed, and accountability in complex brownfield environments.
