Ultimate Potential
Translink Infrastructure Consultants was appointed by NHAI as the Safety Consultant for two O&M stage highway sections in Rajasthan—the Bhilwara–Ladpura section of NH-758 and the Chittorgarh–Kota section of NH-27—both critical corridors for regional mobility and freight movement.
The assignment focused on improving operational safety through blackspot rectification, periodic safety audits, crash data review, and continuous monitoring under the supervision of NHAI PIU Udaipur.

At the time of appointment, multiple MoRTH-identified blackspots were present across both corridors, each showing recurring crash patterns linked to geometry, sight distance, pedestrian interaction, and speed behaviour.
The challenge lay in accurately diagnosing the underlying engineering and traffic-related causes at each location and defining measures that could be implemented effectively under live traffic conditions. In parallel, maintaining corridor-wide safety performance required ongoing monitoring to ensure that new risk locations did not emerge over time.
Translink carried out detailed road safety audits in line with guidelines, supported by field investigations, traffic surveys, speed analysis, and crash data assessment at blackspot locations. Site-specific short-term and long-term rectification measures were developed based on observed risk factors, while the entire corridor was subjected to periodic existing-stage safety audits at six-month intervals.
Continuous crash data review was used to validate findings, track trends, and prioritise safety interventions in a structured manner.
The study provided NHAI with clear, implementable safety recommendations, leading to initiation of tenders for on-ground rectification works. Once implemented, the measures are expected to reduce crash frequency and severity through improved visibility, geometry, access control, and speed management.
Regular audits and monitoring have also strengthened long-term safety oversight, supporting safer and more reliable highway operations across both corridors.
