The two packages presented contrasting safety contexts. Package 1 passed through urban and semi-urban areas, where active traffic movement, pedestrian presence, limited space for work zones, and elevated construction activities increased exposure to risk.
Managing traffic beneath ongoing superstructure works and ensuring safe pedestrian movement required careful control. Package 2, largely greenfield in nature, involved fewer public interactions but posed challenges related to worker safety during large-scale earthworks and structure construction in open terrain.
Safety measures were tailored to site conditions and construction activities. In Package 1, traffic regulation at key junctions, controlled pedestrian movement, and protective measures beneath elevated work zones were implemented to reduce conflict and exposure to falling hazards. In Package 2, emphasis was placed on structured worker safety management through controlled access, safe movement of equipment, use of protective gear, and provision of stable working platforms.
Regular site inspections and coordination with construction teams ensured consistent application of safety measures across both packages.
The safety interventions supported orderly construction with no major crashes reported on the audited stretches during the execution period. Risks associated with live traffic, elevated works, and large-scale construction activities were effectively managed through continuous monitoring and timely corrective actions.
Overall, the assignment helped maintain safer working conditions and reduced safety exposure for both road users and construction personnel during the construction phase.
