Ultimate Potential
The Kim Mandvi corridor on State Highway 65 is an important regional connector supporting agricultural movement, inter-town travel, and access to industrial clusters around Kim, Ankleshwar, and Mandvi.
With increasing traffic, the State Government undertook the upgradation of this corridor, appointing Translink as the Independent Engineer to oversee construction, ensure adherence to specifications, and certify progress and quality. Our role covers the full construction period and continues into the O&M phase for one year.

The project involved a mix of open-country and built-up stretches—each presenting distinct technical and coordination challenges. In built-up areas, limited space and a community-dependent drainage system required smart design adjustments and proactive engagement to avoid delays. Meanwhile, low-lying open-country stretches—prone to seasonal flooding—called for a complete re-evaluation of the original DPR levels to ensure long-term road performance.
Community expectations also played a key role, with residents in certain locations requesting rigid pavement over the proposed flexible design, which required a balanced technical and financial assessment, ensuring construction continuity while respecting local preferences.
Translink adopted a collaborative, solution-focused approach as Independent Engineer. A dedicated drainage strategy was developed for the built-up sections—first establishing a separate utility drain to address village requirements, followed by a hydraulically independent roadside drain. This two-tier resolution enabled construction to progress smoothly while maintaining community trust. For the low-lying stretches, road levels were re-evaluated through joint consultations with the Authority and Concessionaire, leading to an approved embankment raise that eliminated recurrent submergence risk.
The request for rigid pavement was addressed through technical assessment and comparative cost analysis. After reviewing traffic patterns, design life, and constructability, a revised pavement solution was agreed upon, ensuring both structural durability and stakeholder acceptance without affecting project timelines.
The upgraded SH65 corridor is set to deliver smoother and safer mobility across the Kim–Mandvi region. Improved drainage in built-up areas reduces local flooding and enhances daily accessibility for nearby communities. Raised profiles in low-lying stretches prevent seasonal submergence, ensuring reliable operations through the monsoon months.
The introduction of rigid pavement in high-stress village zones increases durability and reduces long-term maintenance needs. Together, these improvements strengthen travel efficiency, agricultural and market connectivity, and the overall reliability of this key regional route.
